Researchers attend annual Brisbane Cancer Conference
The 3rd annual Brisbane Cancer Conference in Brisbane on 23-24 November 2016 was once again a great success. Organised by BDHP Lung Cancer Stream leader Professor Ken O’Byrne, the event attracted about 900 delegates, demonstrating the importance and value of drawing together cancer researchers, clinicians and policy makers in Brisbane and Queensland to advance collaborative efforts in cancer research.
Beginning with concurrent research symposia on Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer and Immuno-Oncology, the two day conference covered a wide diversity of cancer themes through educational seminars, lectures, workshops and plenary lectures on recent scientific, technological, nursing and medical advances in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant disease.
A key session included lectures by Brisbane oncology researchers, who have contributed to global advances in our understanding of the epidemiology, molecular biology and treatment of malignant disease.
BDHP Chair Professor David Siddle provided an overview on BDHP’s progress at the conference and congratulated Professor O’Byrne on bringing together leaders in cancer research and treatment to collaborate to find solutions in this field.
