Research Governance comprises many elements including the safety and quality of research; financial, legal and regulatory matters; and ethical oversight. Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs) are integral in the ethical oversight of research involving humans. Within the BDHP partnership we have six HRECs that are NHMRC Certified for ethical review of multi-centre human research. HRECs review research proposals involving human participants to ensure that they are ethically acceptable and in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines. HRECs are NHMRC certified for specific types of research, ranging from clinical trials to paediatric research.
