Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners is an academic health science network working to deliver quality healthcare to our population. It was established in 2014, by bringing together Diamantina Health Partners, Mayne Health Science Alliance, and Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
The first of its kind in Queensland, our world-class hospital and health services, primary care, universities and medical research institutes collectively take local and international research and accelerate its application to new treatments across the spectrum of health care.
That means better and faster treatments for some of our community’s most devastating diseases and conditions.
Our aim is to build on Queensland’s strong position as a global leader in biomedical research and deliver better outcomes to our patients.
The founding partners were Metro North Hospital and Health Service, Metro South Hospital and Health Service, Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service, Mater Misericordiae Ltd, The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, the Translational Research Institute and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
In 2016, the Queensland Department of Health and Brisbane South PHN joined as full partners. In addition, the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CSIRO Australian e-Health Research Centre are collaborators.
The inaugural BDHP Strategic Plan 2015-2020 was approved in early 2015, leading to the establishment of the 9 clinical themes over the subsequent year. In 2018, the BDHP Board approved an updated Strategic Plan that focuses on five strategic goals:
- Health System Improvement
- Healthcare Equity
- Consumer and Community Involvement
- Data and Technology
- High-Performing Partnerships.
