Updated BHDP Research Passport Agreement makes the business of translational research even easier in Queensland.
Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners has launched its updated Research Passport Agreement, aiming to make the business of translational research even easier in Queensland.
Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners Executive Director David Bunker explained BDHP had gathered feedback from researchers and research governance offices about the original collaborative agreement to update it.
“While the feedback from researchers and RGOs was overwhelmingly positive, importantly, there were ways we could improve the agreement to reduce the barriers to collaborative research in Queensland.
“Our team took this feedback on board, updating the agreement and making well-governed and well-considered changes, which the BDHP Partners signed off in April 2020.
“While it’s not compulsory for researchers within our collaborative network to use the agreement, we encourage all researchers within BDHP Partner organisations to check if they can use it.
“The agreement can save researchers considerable time and legal costs – which means they can get their research project up and running faster.
“Researchers within the BDHP network can also add third parties using the third-party agreement document. Third parties do not have to sign up to the terms in the umbrella agreement.
“We want to ensure approval processes are as efficient as possible so our researchers can get their projects underway as quickly as possible,” Mr Bunker said.
Professor Rik Thompson confirmed that the agreement is used to encourage collaboration.
“With more than 60 investigators over all BDHP sites, the Passport has been an enormous advantage in developing our collaborative research agreement for CPAC (Centre for Personalised Analysis of Cancers), which is a BDHP MRFF RART project.
“It is really great to see the continuing evolution of the BDHP Research Passport, serving to facilitate ease of collaboration across Brisbane,” Professor Thompson said.
The BDHP Research Passport Agreement is a collaborative agreement designed to streamline research collaboration between BDHP Partners through the use of agreed legal terms. It consists of an umbrella agreement and an operating schedule.
