Professor Elizabeth Beattie

Elizabeth is a psychgeriatric nurse educated in Australia, the UK and the US who has been involved in ageing and dementia-focused clinical practice, education and research for over 3 decades. Her primary educational expertise is in the care of older people, especially those living with dementia in residential environments. Elizabeth has an international nursing leadership profile and a sustained record of competitive research funding and publication. Her basic research is focused on dementia-related behaviour, specifically wayfinding and physical overactivity. She has led applied and knowledge translation projects focused on staff training and practice change, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of care and quality of life of people living with dementia and those who support them.
