BDHP Trauma, Critical Care and Recovery Theme Forum – 3 November 2016

Almost 50 members of the BDHP Trauma, Critical Care and Recovery Theme attended the first annual forum on 3 November 2016 to discuss opportunities to grow the Theme.

The feedback with positive with discussions focused on funding, data, cultivating new collaborations and promoting a strong research culture across disciplines.  There was a clear message that traumatic injury is increasing despite best efforts and necessitates further interrogation of data collections to fully understand the scope of trauma and inform robust multidisciplinary research to address clinical needs.  Additionally there was a strong message that opportunities exist to collaborate with the Australian Defence Force and that partnerships are actively encouraged with international institutions, particularly in Germany.

The brainstorming session produced achievable outcomes and agreed actions including engagement in proposed revision of The Queensland Trauma Plan.
