Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease represents the single biggest cause of mortality amongst Australians. Prevention and improved diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions such as ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, stroke, peripheral vascular disease and hypertension relies on the generation of high quality research on causes, detection and treatment outcomes. The BDHP Chronic Disease Theme will enable development of multidisciplinary collaborative ties between basic, clinical and public health researchers and thereby facilitate the generation of high quality data and their translation into more effective and potentially life-saving new approaches to management.
